Looks like RDP is not pre-installed in Linux Lite.
Q1: Is it possible to install to a Linux Lite Live? (albeit just for that session)
Q2: What RDP app is recommended? (similar to Win RDP, reliable, easy to configure)
Many thanks

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install Cisco Packet Tracer 8.2.2 on Linux Lite 7.0, which is based on Ubuntu 24.04. However, when I run the `.deb` installer, I get the following error:

packettracer depends on libgl1-mesa-glx; however: Package libgl1-mesa-glx is not installed.

I tried installing `mesa-utils` and other related packages, but it seems `libgl1-mesa-glx` is no longer available in the 24.04 repositories. I also searched for `.deb` packages online, but couldn't download them successfully from the Ubuntu mirrors.

Does anyone know a safe workaround for this? Maybe a replacement library or a PPA that brings this dependency back? I’d like to avoid downgrading my system or switching distros just for this.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello, I am new to linux so decided to try Linuxlite. I am trying to install Brave browser but have not been able to figure out a way to succesfully do so. I am using a USB drive with 20gb persistant storage on a laptop, safe boot on the bios in laptop is disabled. I have been troubleshooting with the AI system on LinuxLite website for several hours and it just seems to produce an endless amount of errors. The AI will have me run command lines in terminal to fix an error, and in the process of attempting to fix that error, another error appears and then attempt to fix the next one--- basically endlessly.

The "preinstalled" chrome browser doesn't launch, but I am able to install the firefox browser from the Litesoftware welcome page. For the brave I used the single command line install (curl -fsS https://dl.brave.com/install.sh | sh) and also the command lines they list for debian/ubuntu/mint with similar results. I am not a tech expert by any means but I can do the basic command lines and # out the lines that are recommended to be disabled, etc.

What am I missing? Or do I just need a different distro?

Hello

I have been using a Linux Lite 7.0 live boot DVD to check that everything seems to be working ok on my laptop prior to installation. Most things seem to be functioning ok but I cannot launch the internet browser. When I click the Chrome icon from the system tray nothing happens and when I try to open the support manual I get the following message:

"Failed to execute default web browser. input/output error"

After a quick search on my phone I managed to get it to open using the command line
google-chrome --no-sandbox

However I am reluctant to go ahead with the installation if this is going to be a persistent problem. Is this something that could be associated to the live boot settings? I should add that I have used the same live boot DVD to install Linux Lite on a different laptop and did not have this issue.

Results from inxi are pasted below. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thank you.

Edit: I've already resolve the problem. Can you close the topic please, moderator.

Guys, I've always used Redshift without problems in other versions of Lite, but when installing 7, I put Redshift on because I use the notebook a lot to study at night, the following happens: it doesn't change the colors.

I've searched on several sites but can't find a solution. Some help? Thanks.
